Rasheed Broadbell
Sprint hurdler Rasheed Broadbell announced himself on the world stage in the second half of 2022 after previously finishing second in the 110m hurdles at the National Championships and narrowly missing out on the World Championships final on his first attempt in July.
In August, Broadbell won his first major title, capturing the Commonwealth Games crown in 13.08 seconds, equalling the Games record set by England’s Colin Jackson, which was first set in 1990 and equalled four years later. With that success, he would go on to have strong performances on the circuit, defeating World champion Grant Holloway of the United States twice including a 12.99 performance at the Diamond League meet in Lausanne, a new personal best. He became the third Jamaican to run under 13. He took silver in the Diamond League final in Zurich and would finish ranked fourth in the world for the 110m hurdles.
