#Carifta2023 | Jamaica unwilling to re-run under-20 4x100s, under-17s disqualified
Jamaica's under-20 boys 4x100-metres relay team is unwilling to re-run the final after a protest was lodged from last night's final at the 50th Carfita Games in Nassau, Bahamas.
Jamaica's team of Javourne Dunkley, Shaquane Gordon, Delano Kennedy and DeAndre Daley had originally won the title in 39.68 seconds but a protest was lodged citing that the Bahanian team, who finished second in 39.78, had an unfair advantage when their opening-leg runner Zachary Evans was left in the blocks.
The race was recalled and restarted, however, the successful protest meant a 3:00 p.m. re-run is on the cards.
Additionally, Jamaica's boys and girls’ under-17 4x100-metre relay teams were disqualified from their finals after review.
The girls had, initially, won their event but were disqualified because of Technical Rule 24.7 deeming that a baton change took place outside of the takeover zone.
The boys, who had finished second in their final, were also disqualified for the same reason.
