Jamaica qualifies for Hockey5s World Cup
Jamaica, at the first time of the asking, will head to the Men’s Hockey 5s World Cup in Muscat, Oman in January of 2024.
The Jamaican men booked their place by virtue of a 5-2 win over Paraguay in today’s Pan American Cup third-place playoff game at the Mona Hockey Field.
The Jamaicans benefitted from a Nickoy Stephenson hat-trick, the player grabbing goals in the second, sixth, and 11th minutes of play.
Shemar Gordon also contributed with a brace, scoring in the eighth and 19th minutes.
Paraguay got what turned out to be consolation strikes in the 10th minute from Elias Vera and in the 13th through Guillermo Benitez.
