Sunshine Girls, the first team over 100 goals

Jamaica's Sunshine Girls started their Netball World Cup campaign with a commanding 105-25 win over Sri Lanka in their Pool C opener in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Sunshine Girls were led by captain Jhaniele Fowler, who had 42 goals, all coming in the second half, with Romelda Aiken-George the team's second highest goal scorer with 33. Rebekah Robinson and Shanice Beckford chipped in with 15 goals each.

In the other game from Pool C, South Africa disposed of Wales 61-50.

Other results from around the tournament on opening day saw, Australia demolish Zimbabwe 86-30, Uganda earning a 79-37 win over Singapore, New Zealand thrashing Trinidad and 76-26, and Tonga getting the better of Fiji, 56-51.

Jamaica will face Wales tomorrow at 4am Jamaica time.
