#BudaQuest | Parchment the sole survivor of 110m hurdles
Jamaica’s medal hopes in the men’s 110-metre hurdles at these World Athletics Championships will rest solely on the shoulders of Hansle Parchment, the Olympic champion the only survivor through to the final.
Parchment’s teammate, Orlando Bennett, missed out on a spot with a fourth place finish in the semi-final one, his 13.34 seconds not good enough to get him through as a non-automatic qualifier. The race was won by Japan’s Shunsuke Izumiya in 13.16.
Parchment, running 13.18 seconds in semi-final three, had to settle for second place behind Freddie Crittenden of the United States, who ran a season’s best 13.17.
The USA’s Grant Holloway is the fastest qualifier with the 13.02 seconds he used to win semi-final heat two.
