Last year’s beaten Walker Cup finalists, Haile Selassie High, will kick off their Manning Cup season against Greater Portmore High this afternoon at Royal Lakes Complex at 3:30 p.m. in one of three Group C matches scheduled for today.

The Linval Dixon-coached team had a very good season last year as they qualified for their first schoolboy football final and lost to Tivoli High.

However, the Tavares Gardens-based school has been very impressive in preseason matches, and expectations are very high coming into the competition.

In other games, Jonathan Grant High play Dunoon Technical High at Jonathan Grant, and Denham Town High School take on Eltham High at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex. Both matches will also kick off at 3:30 p.m.

In the opening game of the competition last Saturday, defending champions Jamaica College blanked Tivoli High 2-0 at the National Stadium.
