LONDON (CMC):

MANCHESTER CITY manager Gareth Taylor expects Jamaica international Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw to be fit for Friday’s Women’s Super League clash away to Chelsea.

The 27-year-old started Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal away at Meadow Park but came off after 62 minutes, a move which Taylor said was precautionary.

“Bunny is okay. She’s been nursing a bit of a calf strain,” Taylor said.

“Fair play to her, she really wanted to play in this game today and put herself out there.

“We thought we might be able to get a little bit more from her, so it (her substitution) was a mixture really.

“I thought we could get a bit more energy down the middle and Lauren [Hemp] gives you that [and] Mary (Fowler) comes on to the pitch.

“I thought the other guys who came on as well, albeit at different moments, they had to get into the rhythm of the game really quickly.”

Shaw has again proved central to City’s efforts in the WSL this season, the Reggae Girl scoring 13 goals from 12 games and registering three assists.

Only last month, she scored her third hat trick of the season as City thrashed Liverpool 5-1.

City lie second in the WSL on 31 points, just three adrift of leaders Chelsea.
