ATOMICA RETURNS in another Graded Stakes-Open Allowance this Saturday, the She’s A Maneater at a mile, after humbling American IS THAT A FACT for the second consecutive race in last month’s Eros Trophy at seven furlongs.

Facing IS THAT A FACT’s stablemates, the imported pair of FUNCAANDUN and FRED THE GREAT, with MAMMA MIA thrown in to try setting a false pace, ATOMICA’s class should see off the expected relay being concocted by Jason DaCosta’s barn.

As comfortable as a rocking chair at a mile, ATOMICA gives weight all around, but not all her rivals can take full advantage due to choice of riders.

Analysing DaCosta’s game plan, MAMMA MIA, who scored a stunning gate-to-wire upset in the Clovis Metcalfe at seven and a half furlongs on July 7, appears to be the rabbit with Ramon Nepare called in to ensure that the Oaks winner of last season doesn’t go an ounce past 101lb.

DaCosta’s other flyweight is imported FUNCAANDUN, who has been on the receiving end of bad news in two races since graduating from overnight to open allowance, the last being seeing nothing but MAMMA MIA’s rear in the Clovis Metcalfe.

Considering ATOMICA doesn’t hang around to survey rivals in middle-distance races, DaCosta’s lighter runners will have no choice but to go with the proven grade-one runner.

Try as hard as MAMMA MIA may, she won’t be able make ATOMICA blink on the lead. FUNCAANDUN will try pouncing afterwards but should get an even ruder awakening than his last two experiences against open-allowance runners.

Omar Walker is fast becoming a fixture aboard ATOMICA since Dane Dawkins’ departure for Assiniboia Downs in Canada. Walker is the last jockey any rival would want to face aboard a horse with unstoppable pace out the mile chute, She’s A Maneater, the horse who he partnered to her greatest victories, being a prime example.
