Jamaica will be without a competitor in the finals of the men’s 400-metre hurdles as Roshawn Clarke and Malik James-King both failed to advance from the semifinals at the Tokyo World Athletics Championships.

James-King’s time of 48.01 seconds, while a season’s best, saw him finishing fourth in his semifinal and just outside the bubble to advance as a non-automatic qualifier.

It was a similar story for Clarke on his semifinal, as despite a valiant effort, he stopped the clock in 48.37s and failed to advance to the next round.
