Several of the top names expected to advance to the finals of the boys 200m missed out on qualification from the semifinal round held earlier this afternoon at the National Stadium.

In Class One, Hydel’s Junior Gallimore, Edwin Allen’s Romario Finnigan and Holmwood Technical’s Jaydon Collins all failed to book a spot in the final eight.

Gallimore pulled up injured in semifinal two as he registered a ‘Did Not Finish’ result and failed to advance.

In the same race, Collins’ time of 21.87 was not enough to finish within the automatic spots, and was outside the non-automatic bubble time of 21.15.

Finnigan, who burst onto the scene in the 100m, could not replicate his heroics in the half-lap event and clocked 21.36 in his semifinal.

In Class Two, 100m champion Kai Kelly of Jamaica College (JC) fell at the semifinal round when he placed third in semifinal three with a time of 22.04, outside of the non-automatic qualifying spots.

St Jago’s Jevaney Findlay was another casualty of the road as he crossed the line in 21.84 to finish fifth in semifinal two.

The finals for the 200m are scheduled to begin at 2:54 p.m. tomorrow on the final day of competition.
