Do you think enough is being done to generate
maximum value from Jamaica's sporting capacity?
Kevin Richards, Pastor
I do not believe that enough is being done by either the Government or the private sector to position Jamaica at the forefront of the much-talked-about sports market. There is a sign that efforts are being made, but the pace in my opinion is too slow for a country with so much going for it in the area of sports.
Paula Smallings, Secretary
Sports is a big deal in Jamaica, but sadly, it seems we are not serious about earning substantially from it. Sports tourism is big across the world and with the top-flight stars that we have in persons like Usain Bolt, we should be leading the world. So no, I don't think we are doing enough.
Dalton Laing, Businessman
Enough is not being done to position Jamaica in the upper echelon of the sports market. Those with the power are missing the mark. We should be developing our sporting infrastructure, and educating the youths more about the business of sports and how we can benefit long-term from this lucrative market.
Unfortunately, the private sector is asleep and the Government is not paying the kind of respect and attention that our sports truly deserve.
