Russia to expel 23 British diplomats

Russia has announced that it will expel 23 British diplomats.

It marks the latest development in a dispute between the two countries over a nerve agent attack on an ex-Russian spy and his daughter in the United Kingdom.

Earlier this week, British Prime Minister Theresa May condemned the use of the military grade nerve agent on British soil, before announcing that 23 Russian diplomats would be expelled from the UK.

Today Russia's Foreign Ministry said the 23 British staff would be expelled from Moscow within a week.

The foreign ministry also announced that the British Council in Russia, which promotes cultural ties between the nations, would be closed as well as the British Consulate in St Petersburg
