687 news COVID-19 cases, 26 more deaths

Jamaica has recorded 26 more COVID-19 fatalities, pushing the tally to 1,619.

The Health Ministry says five of the deaths were previously under investigation and that two of those previously under investigation occurred between November and December 2020.

The other deaths occurred between August 2 and September 3, 2021.

Those who have died are:

St Elizabeth

* A 68-year-old woman
* A 74-year-old man
* An 87-year-old woman
* A 74-year-old male
* A 57-year-old male
* A 94-year-old man
* A 58-year-old female
* An 80-year-old man
* A 46-year-old female

Westmoreland

* An 84-year-old male
* A 79-year-old man
* A 35-year-old male
* A 34-year-old man

St James

* A 62-year-old female
* A 91-year-old male
* A 74-year-old woman
* A 41-year-old female

Kingston and St Andrew

* A 59-year-old female
* A 91-year-old woman
* A 76-year-old female
* A 67-year-old male

St Catherine

* A 60-year-old woman
* A 51-year-old male
* A 55-year-old woman

Trelawny

* A 36-year-old woman

St Thomas

* A 44-year-old man

And 13 more fatalities are under investigation, moving that figure to 189.

Meanwhile, there were 687 new cases with ages ranging from 68 days to 92 years, pushing the total to 71,344 with 20,464 being active.

Of the new cases, 417 are women and 270 are men.

* Trelawny - 52
* St Mary - 51
* Hanover - 47
* Portland - 29
* St Elizabeth - 25

* St Ann - 13   
* Clarendon - 7   

A total of 1,742 tests were conducted.

The country's positivity rate stands at 46.6%.

In the meantime, there were 116 more recoveries, increasing the total to 48,807.

Some 720 persons are in hospital with 175 being moderately ill, 175 severely ill, and 47 critically ill.

One person is in government quarantine, while 46,656 are at home.
