Jamaica-born health policy leader honoured
Kavelle Christie named by Marquis Who’s Who for national impact on U.S. healthcare policy and advocacy
WASHINGTON, D.C:
Kavelle Christie, a Jamaica-born health policy strategist and healthcare reform advocate, has been selected as a 2025 inductee of Marquis Who’s Who, a distinguished biographical archive that has chronicled the lives and achievements of the world’s most accomplished leaders for over 125 years. The recognition places Christie among a historic list of honorees that has included Nobel Prize winners, U.S. Presidents, and global innovators in medicine, business, and the arts.
Christie, who was born and raised in Jamaica, is the founder and CEO of Orion 360 Health, LLC, a U.S.-based health policy and strategy firm focused on healthcare financing reform, reproductive health equity, and public narrative strategy. A release to the media notes that ‘her work helps governments, organisations, and advocacy networks navigate complex healthcare regulations, expand Medicaid access, and translate policy into action, especially for under served communities’.
She is widely credited with co-leading Rhode Island’s first-in-the-nation private insurance and Medicaid doula reimbursement mandate, a transformative law that has reshaped maternal health policy and positioned the state as a national model for birth equity. Her expertise spans everything from Medicaid and prescription drug pricing reform to regulatory oversight and rural healthcare access.
“As a Jamaican woman navigating U.S. health systems and power structures, I carry with me the cultural clarity, determination, and global lens that my family and this country gave me,” said Christie. “This recognition is not just about me: it’s about the many people, including those from small communities like mine, whose brilliance and life experiences deserve to help shape the systems that affect us all.”
The release notes further that Christie’s leadership has influenced legislation across multiple states, particularly in the U.S. South, where she has worked with local advocates to address maternal mortality, reproductive care deserts, and hospital closures. She has also helped shape federal reproductive and maternal health policy through her work with national coalitions and direct engagement with members of Congress, bringing the voices of impacted communities into policy conversations at the highest level. Through Orion 360 Health, she also provides executive coaching, policy strategy consulting, and communications support for mission-driven leaders, companies, and campaigns.
Her commentary has been featured in major international media, including Forbes, MSN, BBC, NASDAQ, and the Polish Press Agency, positioning her as a leading Caribbean voice in global health policy. She has been named one of Business Insider’s 30 Leaders Under 40 Changing Healthcare (2023), one of Becker’s Healthcare’s Black Healthcare Leaders to Know (2024), and among Black Leaders Worldwide’s Women to Watch (2025). She was also named one of Women We Admire’s Top Women Leaders of 2025 and nominated for the Health Advocate Award by Caribbean POSH Magazine’s ICON Woman Awards.
She earned her Master of Science in Global Health from the University of Manchester, a member of the elite Russell Group of UK universities and ranked among the top 40 universities in the world.
Before transitioning into health policy, Christie built a successful early career in Jamaica as a journalist and later as one of the country’s leading publicists, advising high-profile figures and managing national media strategy for several years. Her career evolved into a position of national influence, where she became one of the most respected Caribbean voices shaping U.S. healthcare policy. Her induction into Marquis Who’s Who not only affirms her extraordinary accomplishments, but also marks her as one of the few Jamaica-born leaders recognised at the highest levels of global policy and advocacy.
