Portmore United kept their 10-game unbeaten run intact, drawing 0-0 with Clarendon's Humble Lion in their final game of the Digicel Premier League at Ferdie Neita Park yesterday.

Both clubs, which were not in danger of being demoted, played free-flowing football.

However, the goals were missing due to players misfiring in front of goal, with Portmore's Roen Nelson, who hit two shots on the volley in the first half, coming closest to scoring.

Coach pleased

Nontheless, Portmore's coach, Neville 'Bertis' Bell, was pleased with how his team ended the season.

"I wanted to make it to the top six and we didn't so that was disappointing," he said.

"But we ended the season with a 10-game unbeaten run and I'm very pleased about that."

Bell added: "When I came, I was asked to ensure that the team plays Premier League football next season and we did that, so from that standpoint the objectives were met. I just won't be able to coach here next season because I'm committed to the University of the West Indies (UWI), St Georges College and TvJ, so my time is limited. I had fun and I will miss the players, but I think I have to move on," he said.

Christopher Bender, coach of Humble Lion, said they were happy to end the season with a point.

"We are happy for the draw, we didn't want to lose to Portmore. We defeated them once and the other three games ended in draws. Our objective for this season was to stay in the Premier League and we accomplished that," said Bender.
