Following his five-star performance in Sunday's Digicel Premier League football match against St Georges Sports Club, Waterhouse's coach, Geoffrey Maxwell, has heaped much praise on striker Kevin Lamey, saying "he is the best in the country".

Lamey virtually carried out a one-man demolition job on the fourth-place Portland team, scoring a handful of goals in the 26th, 28th, 39th, 49th and 70th minutes, to lead his team to a resounding 6-1 win.

The windfall also allowed Lamey to finish as the league's joint leading scorer on 18 goals, with Rivoli's Devon Hodges.

Interestingly, Waterhouse's other goal was accounted for by St Georges defender Jermaine Taylor at the 22nd minute.

Damion Harwood (44th) netted for the Portland team.

Due to Lamey's phenomenal scoring in the match, and his contribution throughout the years - as he has also won the Premier League twice, with the Drewsland club, and the top scoring award previously - Maxwell says he is the "best centre forward in the country".

"I am happy for Kevin Lamey to have finished as joint-leading goalscorer and it proves once again to me that age does not play football," he said.

"You can be young and capable of playing, but not good enough. You can be older, more experienced and capable of scoring 18 goals in one season," he reasoned of his 34-year-old striker.

"To me, that says a lot for a player like Kevin Lamey, who I still regard as the best centre forward in the country.

"If we look at Blanco (Cuauhtemoc), who plays for Mexico and is also the captain of Mexico, he is not a young player and it goes to show that you need experienced players in any type of sport to carry you through," Maxwell observed.

"I think that Lamey has done very well."
