'Powerful Women and Men' show postponed

The staging of the 10th Powerful Women and Men Perform for Charity event, which was scheduled for Sunday, June 6, at 6 p.m. at the National Indoor Sports Centre, has been postponed until further notice.

The decision was taken at a special meeting of the organising committee of the show, in light of the current state of emergency.

Over the last nine years that the show has been staged, $25 million has been raised to assist nearly 500 abandoned children and those with HIV/AIDS who are under the care of the Mustard Seed Communities, founded by Monsignor Gregory Ramkissoon.

The University Singers has also postponed its concert season.

This year's concert, Ode to Prof, has been rescheduled to commence on June 9 at the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts, UWI, Mona. This is contingent on an improvement in the security situation and a lifting of the state of emergency.

The organisers said persons who have already purchased tickets are being advised to call 702-3518 or email info.uwisingers@gmail.com.
