CFW welcomes big celebs
British Vogue fashion designer and winner of the Prince's Trust award Gavin Douglas, has arrived in the island for Caribbean Fashion-week, as Pulse celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the event, which began yesterday and ends June 21.
Douglas joins a growing list of celebrities, entertainers, supermodels and fashion designers who have arrived in Jamaica for Fashionweek.
Also in the island for the event are Arena covergirl and Victoria's Secret model Nell Robinson and German-based designer Yolander James-Handler, among others.
Other CFW celebrities scheduled for appearances at Fashionweek include Johnny Gill, who will perform on Saturday night. i-D magazine editor Giannie Couji, baseball great Barry Bonds, well-known glamour covergirl Clarissa, Emmy Award winning celebrity Make-up artist Eve Pearl, Pulse's new Vogue covergirl Sedene Blake, i-D and LOVE covergirl Jeneil Williams and Vogue supermodel Jaunel McKenzie. Haitian pop star Katia Cadet, who performs on CFW's Friday night, is also set to make her arrival.
Gavin Douglas will conduct a post CFW Workshop for designers from Jamaica and the wider Caribbean, immediately after the event.
The workshop is intended to give the region's designers a better perspective on the international marketplace and will also address key technical issues. The brilliant and highly decorated Douglas is one of the truly outstanding and highly regarded young designers in Europe. In 2004, he was named Young Avant Garde designer by the London Fashion Forum and in 2006 won the Fashion Fringe award competition, which was adjudicated by an international panel of designers, buyers and media, including former Gucci and Yves St Laurent creative director Tom Ford.
The brilliant and highly decorated Douglas is one of the truly outstanding and highly regarded young designers in Europe.
