Valentine's Day has long come and gone, but so what? Who says 'love' topics should only come up once or twice a year? Love songs help persons to express their feelings better than mere words can.

With that in mind, we set out to find out some of our readers' favourite love songs and what comes to mind when they tug at their hearts? Maybe you'll find one you can relate to.

There you have it, love songs for the ages!

  • 'Spoil Me'

Being in a happy and fulfilling relationship often causes many girls to feel like they're 'Spoilt'. This is the case with 22-year-old Debra from Kingston.

She says: "The song Spoilt by Joss Stone is my favourite love song ever, although it reminds me of my ex-boyfriend and always makes me want to cry."

It's little wonder why this song would make her cry. A line from the song goes: "The love you give is just too hard to fight; don't want to live without you in my life. I'm spoiled."

  • 'Almost' doesn't count?

For 25-year-old Que, the opposite may be true. While she wasn't exactly spoilt, she finds herself missing what she almost had. Her favourite line from the song Almost by Tamia reads: "I miss the times that we almost shared, I miss the times that were almost there."

As Que puts it, "It reminds me of a situation that almost happened. Whenever I feel depressed, I always listen to it, which kind of doesn't make a lot of sense, since it makes me even more depressed. But I just like the appropriateness of it."

  • 'Don't Want To Miss A Thing'

A young a new love can do wonders for someone. Kelly from Spanish Town says she knows that her new relationship may quite possibly end on a sour note, but for now, she'll enjoy the good times.

It's little wonder, therefore, that her favourite love song, which causes her to smile more nowadays whenever she hears it, is Aerosmith's I Don't Want To Miss A Thing.

Kelly actually bursts into song, "I don't want to close my eyes, I don't want to fall asleep, 'cause I miss you, babe, and I don't want to miss a thing!" We'll check back with Kelly next time this year and hopefully she'll still feel like staying awake.

  • 'Men Feel It Too'

Girls aren't the only fans of love songs. Thirty-year-old Donald lists the duo Estelle and Sean Paul's song Come Over as his fave. Never mind that it doesn't fit the love song stereotype. His favourite line goes: "You don't have to be perfect, love, as long as you are willing to learn."

According to Donald, "This means the person loves his or her partner and is ready to work with them to make them better." If only we could exercise the same kind of patience in other aspects of life.
