The 2010 FIFA World Cup has drawn different races and cultures together. And even though Jamaica's national team, the Reggae Boyz, didn't make it to the Greatest Show on Earth, locals are being treated to a mega football experience.

SportsMax, in association with JusBet, launched its World Cup entertainment hub called the SportsMax Zone on Thursday.

Outfitted with exquisite bars, high-definition (HD) plasma televisions, comfortable couches and uniquely designed football booths, the zone aims to be a hot spot for summer.

Most distinctive, of course, is the 216-inch HD television. The boys will be happy!

Chris Tellfer, project director, and Darren Alwood, project manager, said they wanted to create a revolutionary sporting experience with an atmosphere tailor-made for World Cup fans from June 22-July 11 when the tournament climaxes.

Décor was done by Michelle Simms, catering by Jacqui Tyson, bar service by Top Shelf.

So far, Reggae Boy Fabian Davis has given the initiative two thumbs up.

"It is an excellent idea! Bringing together football fans, let alone all sports fans, under one roof is long overdue," he told Saturday Life.

Football loyalists can find the zone in the heart of New Kingston at 29 Trafalgar Road (the now-defunct Super Plus supermarket building).
