Busy Signal

Dancehall superstar Busy Signal has added yet another award to his fast-rising collection.

The artiste topped out other nominees in the category, Best International Single, at the recently held Reggae Achievement Awards, held at the Jamaican Canadian Centre in Toronto, Canada, recently with One More Night. There was overwhelming crowd response when it was announced as the winner, proving the success of the single.

Busy Signal has been quite busy in the studios for the past couple months, releasing hit after hit packed with compelling, powerful lyrics that have been intensifying the airwaves. The video for Let Peace Reign has been released and the anticipated video for Summn' a Guh Gwaan, the collaboration with Alliance chief Bounty Killer, will be released next week. Both tracks were produced by Shane C. Brown of Jukeboxx Productions. Busy Signal is also set to release his latest album, D.O.B., by mid-July.

ATI's 10th kicking

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the most popular summer weekend, ATI. With the anticipation of this year's staging, many events have started across the Corporate Area to promote this annual celebration. This trend has now spread to as far as Negril, the home of ATI.

Five Fridaze is a weekly series, running for five weeks in Negril geared towards building the buzz leading up to the anniversary weekend. Aptly dubbed the Fridaze Countdown to ATI, Five Fridaze will allow patrons to come out and get a taste of different ATI DJs. The event will run from June 25 to July 23, exactly one week before ATI.

Five Fridaze will take place at the ATI Village, Norman Manley Beach Park, located on Negril's Hip Strip. Each week will have a different theme and will also be used as a launch for a different ATI party.

Chedda on crusade

Charismatic and talented upcoming deejay Chedda pledged at the start of the year to become one of the front-runners in dancehall. The Darkcide Media recording artiste's latest effort, titled Jacket, produced by Russian's Head Concussion Records, seems to have found favour with the masses. Not only is it a staple on the airwaves, but it is now available digitally at Amazon.com and iTunes.com as part of the Street Grooves Rhythm compilation. Other artistes on the compilation include Aidonia, Konshens, Vybz Kartel and bad gyal Ce'Cile.

Chedda, earlier this year, catapulted on to the music scene with Hill & Gully and Fresh To Death, the latter featuring fellow entertainers Chino, Laden, Konshens and Nicky B.
