Love blossoms on the final day of spring!
Summer's heat raged, but for Shena Stubbs and Ruel Gibson Jr it was a spring-themed affair as they pledged eternal love in The Gardens, The Jamaica Pegasus hotel, New Kingston on Sunday, June 20.
As is customary, the bride arrived late but it was worth the wait as she was picture-perfect in a David's Bridal strapless lace over satin gown that featured seed pearls and iridescent sequins and ending in a train.
The matron of honour and bridesmaids wore designs by Halterine Brown of Portmore, St Catherine. The strapless dresses in sage, burnt orange, yellow and olive, featured huge fabric rosettes at the waist and were knee length. Groomsmen and bestman wore light-coloured suits with accents in the same shades as the bridesmaids' dresses.
The groom was relaxed as he waited patiently in off-white and black . But he need not have bothered about losing composure as Pastor Dr Dudley Mullings, who officiated, liberally injected words of humour in the ceremony with instructions for the couple to use terms of endearment. These included: "sweetheart, my joy, heartbeat and sugarplum."
The parents of the bride and groom were at one when asked to give their blessings to the couple and welcome the new members of their families. They are, parents of the bride, Garnet and Hiscah Stubbs and, parents of the groom, Ruel Sr and Nestlyn Gibson.
Dennis Rushton provided his usual excellent repertoire of music for the ceremony and the reception held in the Talk of the Town at the popular New Kingston hotel. Elegant Weddings' Lorraine Clunie worked with 'It's Spring' and shades of pink, sage, peach, orange, yellow and white were featured in the table pedestal arrangements, the backdrop as well as on the columns and cocktail tables throughout the room and at the altar.
Selena Wong's artistry could not be missed on the simply sophisticated three-tier wedding cake
