Reggae songstress Sophia Brown has been confirmed for next month's staging of Reggae Sumfest.

Brown, whose Gimme That Good Love peaked at the top of several video charts here in Jamaica, has a career which has hit a sweet upswing in recent times, charting hits such as Love You Pure and Weak for You both of which were on her debut album, Spotlight.

She is now looking forward to adding another feather in her cap by being in this year's line up of what is considered to be the biggest reggae concert in the world.

"I have only missed Sumfest once, in 2006. It has always been my dream to be on stage there, and this year I am happy to be there," she said.

"2010 has, so far, been a good year and I am grateful to the members of the Sumfest committee, the fans and the members of the media, who have helped get my music out there. I am looking forward to performing my songs, Gimme That Good Love, Love You Pure, my new song, Let It Be Me, and others."

The singer had been in negotiations to perform at this year's renewal of Sumfest and got confirmation last week that she was on the roster of high-quality performers.

She is down to perform on the Saturday night.

Becoming a part of Sumfest is the latest indicator that Brown is on the verge of a major breakout.

"I really feel like things are beginning to happen for me," Brown said. "All the hard work is starting to pay off."

Brown's stock has been rising rapidly and demand for her performances has been growing steadily.
