Osmosis; the party, the fashion

Apart from the décor, great music and food, Osmosis is also known for the fashion. It seems patrons know the paparazzi will be out, so they have to look the part. The Mad Circle team (via email) gave us the low-down on looking good.

"Osmosis patrons started taking their fashion to the next level when we launched our Osmosis fashion magazine in December 2008. All the imagery associated with the event communicates the type of "be there" event that it now is. We don't enforce it (a dress code), but you will certainly feel out of place if you don't go all out," the guys told us.

In the early days, the party was very much a 'jeans and T-shirt event, but the times have definitely changed.

"It is amazing to see how persons have made their Osmosis fashion a priority as the event has grown. City on the Bay (2008) was an amazing event, and persons unleashed their fashion arsenal. Since that time, women now go to designers for their Osmosis outfits, instead of their closets. Yes, it's true that some patrons buy an outfit especially for Osmosis. Shimmer, Alexxya, Camesha Powell (Poshe) and Romeich can testify to the increase in orders for outfits when Osmosis is being hosted.

"As DJ Laden once said, not even a pair of jeans should be repeated at Osmosis," they joked.

The Gleaner asked 'the gang of five' for dress tips for men and women, taking into account the latest styles, possible climate and the terrain of Caymanas Estate, the venue for the July 3 party.

1. Make sure your outfit is one of a kind.

2. Make sure you are well groomed (hair, nails).

3. Never over-accessorise.

4. Make sure you wear an outfit that you can move in, not just stand in.

5. Ensure your make-up is camera friendly, as The Gleaner will be snapping.

1. Make sure you wear your outfit with confidence, don't just wear it ... rock it!

2. Women notice men that are well groomed, so get your nails done, shave and get a haircut, maybe at Adam and Eve (hint, hint).

3. The women will be out in full force, so be creative.

4. If you haven't read the above article, then just to remind you that it's not so much about T-shirts anymore, but vests, ties, jackets and cardigans.

5. Smelling great is the finishing touch to any great Osmosis outfit. So splash on that Gucci, Issey Miyake, Marc Jacobs or Essential.
