Grosvenor Art Gallery came alive as the Urban Arts Festival: Kingston On The Edge came to a close last weekend after a successful and alluring exhibition of the fine arts, fashion, music, dance and speech.

The one-week event featured the likes of new talents Monique Lofters and Kori Samuel alongside a special showcasing of dance improvisation, choreographed by Neila Ebanks, that was held in the metropolitan transit hub of Half-Way Tree Square.

The closing show was a canvas of artists such as Garfield Morgan, Mazola and Tukula N'Tama, whose pieces captured the true essence of this year's theme: 'Love, Art and Liberation'.

The gallery, owned by Douglas Reid, also featured an urban art poster collection and other colourful art displays.

The Urban Arts Festival, now in its fourth year, offered a fresh twist to the heavy tones being echoed throughout the streets of Kingston over the past month, thus providing therapeutic rejuvenation for those in attendance.

Organisers Carolyn Lazarus, Omar Francis, Beatriz Pozueta, Enola Williams and Joaquin Portocarero created yet another empowering Urban Arts Festival and are optimistic about next year's show.

So if you specialise in the arts or just consider it a hobby - whether dance, painting, drawing and poetry - Saturday Life encourages you to become part of one of the coolest art shows in Kingston. You can find it on Facebook by typing 'Kingston on the Edge' and become a member.

See you next year!
