Jamaica, the home and heartbeat of reggae, joined in on the celebration of International Reggae Day on Thursday at Emancipation Park. Themed 'Red, Gold, Green: I Love Ja', International Reggae Day focused on one of Jamaica's richest cultural assets, which has made a massive footprint in world music.
Andrea Davis, the founder of the celebratory day, spoke about the genre's unprecedented impact, particularly on the strides of pioneering artistes such as Bob Marley.
Veteran crooner Ken Booth and younger starlets Cherine Anderson and Romain Virgo delivered outstanding performances.
A tree-planting ceremony, using the national tree, Blue Mahoe, was also staged.
