REGGAE ENTERTAINER Tony Rebel has called for "honourable" conduct within the hallowed halls of Gordon House.

Addressing a committee of Parliament yesterday, Rebel urged lawmakers to display "good behaviour" so that the "young impressionable" minds could emulate their conduct.

He was making a presentation to members of the Human and Resources Development Committee on the impact of music with violent content on the young.

Rebel chided the legislators for their rowdy behaviour, which he said was being viewed by many young Jamaicans on the Public Broadcasting Corporation of Jamaica television.

"Please display good behaviour. Let us have some honourable behaviour," he insisted.

Committee members Ronald Thwaites and Gregory Mair conceded that parliamentarians should improve their deportment.

"Our behaviour is disgraceful," said Thwaites, as he applauded Rebel for being frank in his comments.

In recent times, speaker of the House Delroy Chuck has had to warn parliamentarians about their conduct.

He warned that disruptive behaviour in the House could lead to persons being asked to leave the chamber.
