Kensington win Senior Cup

A sublime century from Wavell Hinds, backed up by good bowling from Akeem Dewar and Dennis Bulli, guided Kensington to first-innings points over St Mary and with it, the 2010 Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Senior Cup title.
Hinds cracked 103, while Dewar took 4-38 and Bulli 4-38, as the men from east Kingston coasted to victory in the match at Chedwin Park.
Resuming on their overnight total of 217-5 and with Hinds not out on 91, Kensington went on to make 288 in their first innings.
Ryan Francis, 45, and Rasheed Outar, 36 not out, also got among the runs.
Off-spinner Marlon Byfield claimed 3-44.
St Mary struggled
St Mary, in their reply, then found it difficult to contend with the leg-spin of Dewar and the left-arm wrist spin of Bulli. Only Domain Wilson, 21 not out, and Takim Lowe, 24, got to double figures as they were limited to 84-9.
National youth batsman Tazwayne Creary, who suffered a hand injury in the field, did not bat.
Kensington, batting a second time, closed the day on 80-1, with opener Ranville Brown scoring 55 not out.
"It feels good to finally win the championship after going close two years ago and making the semis last year," said Kensington's captain, Bulli.
Team effort
"It was a total team effort and credit must to Wavell (Hinds), who batted beautifully, and laid the foundation for us. Also, Dewar bowled with good control," he added.
The win propelled Kensington into next season's JCA Super League.
St Mary, however, will have ano-ther shot when they play the second-to-last finisher in this season's JCA Super League, later this month.
"It was a bad performance by St Mary. We knew we could have done better, but our batting let us down. But we have another bite at the cherry and the hope is that we will get it right in the play-off game," declared Carlos Francis, St Mary's manager.
