Who are the JCDC's Festival contestants?

Marvillus

The Gleaner continues to acquaint our readers with the contestants in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission's (JCDC's) Festival Song Competition. Look out for it!

Song title: 'Welcome to Jamaica'

Born Dennard Morgan, Marvillus hails from the musical community of Botany Bay, St Thomas. Gifted, with what most people in the music industry would say is the new "R&B voice of reggae", Marvillus discovered his passion for music at the tender age of 7.

While attending Seaforth High School as a teenager, he was inspired by artistes such as Alton Ellis, Dennis Brown, Luthor Vandross, Marvin Gay and Stevie Wonder, just to name a few.

A regular attendant at stage shows and street dances in his community, he has built up a firm fan base locally and nationally, and now intends to take his fresh cross-over style and swagger to the world.

Working out of the East House Camp in Yallahs, St Thomas, in addition to the Festival Song competition, Marvillus is also in the process of completing a new mix tape to be released this summer.
