At 13, Collin Daley Jr is already a well-respected go-karter on the international circuit. He has also been named 'champion of the local track' on five occasions over a four-year period. He is expected to participate in the prestigious Rotax Nationals in Newcastle, Indiana, from July 9 to 18.

"His chances of making it to the podium at the Rotax Nationals are excellent," said Peter Moodie, head of New Generation Racing, who has been Collin's mentor since he began racing on the local kart track at age 8.

As go-kart racing is not one of the traditional local sports, those involved usually find it challenging to get the financial support they need. However, when Collin Daley Jr was introduced to the Jamaica Broilers family, a positive response was immediate.

"What we saw in Collin was an amazing young man, blessed with outstanding talent, who had the opportunity to not only showcase his locally honed skills, but to be an inspiration to aspiring athletes. We note the discipline and dedication he displays in perfecting his skills and we look forward to his continuous rise on the world stage," said Dr Claudette Cooke, VP for HRD & PR at the Jamaica Broilers Group.

JB Ethanol has pledged its support for this young star with a sponsorship package valued at US$8,000 to be used to offset the cost of travelling and competing in local and international meets, as well as for the purchase of racing supplies.

"I travel at an average speed of 68 miles an hour on the track and I am never scared or nervous. I will say a prayer before I take off, or shake my competitors' hands and wish them good luck at the start of each race, because I have a good personality," the young driver added.

It was Collin Daley Sr who exposed his son, at four years old, to the world of driving.

To date Collin has collected a number of championship trophies and has travelled to such places as Colorado, Indiana, Texas, Wisconsin and Miami in the US, as well as to the Caribbean territories of Barbados, St Lucia and Grenada. Collin is the 2005 Jamaica Junior Sportsman runner-up and Most Disciplined Driver 2006 Junior Sportsman Champion; 2007 Minimax Rotax Champion, as well as that year's Abe Zaidie Overall Champion - the youngest driver to win this award; 2008 Minimax Champion and holder of the lap record; 2009 Junior Rotax runner-up and 2010 Spring Fling Junior Rotax Champion.
