The Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS)-sponsored Kingston and St Andrew Masters Football League (KSAMLA), will kick off on Sunday at Barbican Oval, with the annual opening day Champions Cup and dress parade.

According to a release, JNBS has agreed to a work with KSAMLA over a three-year period to create a "sustainable Masters League programme. Support will be given to the Association which at the end of the period, should be stronger and not solely dependent on sponsorship".

The 2010 JNBS Champions Cup features defending champions Barbican against Telecom Strikers. The dress parade begins at 2:30 p.m. and will be followed by the Champions Cup at 4 p.m.

Seeking third title

Barbican will be seeking their third straight Masters League title, when the competition officially kicks off on Sunday, July 25, with a full slate of games.

However, stiff competition is expected from pre-season favourites, Constant Spring, who have bolstered their already potent squad with new signings Fabian Watkins of Boys' Town Premier League and Ken Ellis, the most prolific goal scorer in KSAMLA history.

As the top striker for St. George's College Masters, Ellis won back-to-back Masters League Golden Boot awards in 1999 and 2000, and again in 2006, when he was also the MVP. Ellis also shared the scoring title with Roan Rousseau of Pelicans in 2007.
