Canada's Bagai out with injury

TORONTO, Canada (CMC):

Canada will miss experienced Ashish Bagai for the Caribbean Twenty20 tournament which bowls off in Barbados next week.

The 28-year-old wicketkeeper/ batsman has been ruled out of the July 22-31 tournament with a knee injury and was not considered for selection in the 14-man squad.

Bagai is a veteran of 52 one-day internationals and seven T20 internationals and will be a key loss for the side which will do battle in a strong Zone A with Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and Leeward Islands.

Canada will be led by batsman Rizwan Cheema, and include familiar faces like left-arm seamer Umar Bhatti and batsmen Trevin Bastiampillai and Geoff Barnett.

The Canadians will raise the curtain on the tournament when they clash with Trinidad and Tobago at Kensington Oval next Thursday.
