Stakes win at Calder for Jamaica's Bridgmohan
MIAMI GARDENS, Florida (CMC):
Jermaine Bridgmohan drove Dash Dot Dash to her third straight stakes victory, when they collared a scratched-reduced field in the US $55,000 Our Dear Peggy Stakes on Saturday at the Calder Race Course.
The Jamaican jockey piloted Dash Dot Dash to a 12-length victory over Musical Romance, under Manoel Cruz, after the 1,700-metre event was switched from turf to the dirt track, following rain in recent days.
This seemed to have played right into Dash Dot Dash's hands, following her victories in the Take D Tour Stakes on May 29 by six and three-quarter lengths, and the Emergency Nurse Handicap on July 3 by six lengths on the same surface.
"We knew she would do well on this track," said trainer Martin Wolfson. "Once she gets the lead here, she just gets into a flow."
Seventh stakes win
The victory carried Bridgmohan to his seventh stakes win for the year, and sixth for the current season at Calder.
The move of the Our Dear Peggy Stakes to dirt led to seven scratches, and Dash Dot Dash did not let down the punters that installed her as a 1-5 favourite in the six-horse field.
Bridgmohan had her well-in-hand, while setting the pace off the rail through the half-mile in a relatively slow 49.55 seconds.
