The Gleaner's red-carpet ride to Sumfest
The Gleaner and THE STAR will be rolling out the red carpet in Kingston, leading up to this weekend's activities for the internationally acclaimed Reggae Sumfest.
Today at Escape, Knutsford Boulevard, New Kingston, there will be a pre-Sumfest lyme, 'STAR Sumfest Summer Escape'. Hosted by DJ Cutty from the Coppershot sound system, the event will feature a performance from Gramps Morgan. The Sumfest activities will start at 10 p.m., but discounted Sumfest tickets will be available for purchase at the venue from as early as 9 p.m.
A Gleaner-sponsored event, Reggae Sumfest kicked off on Saturday night in Montego Bay with a beach party held at Cornwall Beach (See the next page for more from that party).
The performances will start on Thursday at Catherine Hall, Montego Bay, for Dancehall night, and continues throughout the weekend with guest performances from Chris Brown and Usher.
Whet their appetite
The Gleaner's Business Development and Marketing Manager Karin Cooper, commented, "the idea for the STAR Sumfest Summer Escape is for persons in Kingston who may be able to go to Sumfest to have their own feel at the event and to whet their appetite for Reggae Sumfest."
This is just one of a series of promotional activities that THE STAR and The Gleaner have undertaken, leading up to this weekend's activities.
