NEW YORK (AP):

The Rose Bowl has been selected as the site of next year's final of the Confederation of North and Central America and Caribbean Federation (CONCACAF) Gold Cup.

CONCACAF announced the decision on Wednesday.

The winner of the game on June 25 will qualify for the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil. The 12-nation Gold Cup opens on June 5.

Mexico is defending champion of the event, after they defeated the United States 5-0 in the 2009 final at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, last hosted the Gold Cup in 2002, including the final.

The stadium was the site of Brazil's victory over Italy in the 1994 World Cup final.
