Global Warming a safe banker

Both the Pick-9 and Super-6 were cornered at Caymanas Park last Saturday, the Pick-9 going to a lucky punter who walked away with a cool million.

Similar to last Saturday, the Pick-9 will embrace all nine races on the card, while the Super-6 will embrace races four to nine.

We look at the Super-6 which gets under way with a $250,000-$210,000 claiming race over 1400 metres, which should provide keen competition among the eight starters.

Right off the bat, I would implore punters to approach this race with caution as no fewer than four of the runners have good claims, notably the down-in-class trio of THREE QUEENS, LADY WALES and NATURAL HEART, as well as JUST A CAT.

Champion jockey Omar Walker is down to ride THREE QUEENS, who won by all of eight lengths over this trip on a $250,000 tag back on March. She has failed to follow up in six subsequent races, but steps down from a $425,000 claiming tag to $250,000 tomorrow, and with only 52.0kg, gets the nod over LADY WALES and JUST A CAT.

GLOBAL WARMING, having finished third to MARK MY WORD in the LIME Jamaica Derby and fourth in the RJR St Leger, looks a five-star banker in the fifth race over 1400 metres for three-year-olds, while the speedy J.R.'S DREAM (working well) gets the nod over SALUTE TO MOM and DUSTY MILLY in the aforementioned sixth race.

The Desmond Shand-trained RESTLESS MARQUE returns well refreshed from a 3 1/2-month absence and should win the seventh race over 1600 metres, while stable-companion BORA BORA, now bidding for his fourth consecutive win from only five career starts, is preferred to old rival RUNNING LOOSE and PATARA in the eighth for the Aston Commock Memorial Trophy over 1700 metres. And THE REAL STREAM, having chased home the unbeaten American colt DOUBLE THE HONEY recently, should score an overdue win in the closing overnight allowance race.
