Can U relate? I am a superhero
Kimesha Henry, Gleaner Writer
I remember watching television while growing up, imagining myself as one of the characters. Take Power Rangers, for example. I was always the pink ranger - for one, her name was shortened to Kim, just like mine. Plus, one of my favourite colours was pink.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who used to have such thoughts!
So this week, we're finding out which television character you feel you can relate to most. Or better yet, if you were a television character, which would you be, and why?
Now This is a Story ...
For police Corporal Mitchell, he may have been the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in another life.
"I could definitely see myself as Will - he's funny, he can charm women - kinda like me although not so much. He's street-smart, which you have to be in my profession. He can also relate to people from the inner city, 'cause he's from the hood, as well as people from 'uptown'. Man, I miss that show."
We all miss that show, Corporal Mitchell.
Life is a Game ...
Kayann, on the other hand, seems to be a mixture of characters from her favourite TV show, The Game.
She started out by saying, "I'm kinda like Melanie, in a way ... . No, wait, she's so dumb, sometimes. I think I can relate most to Tasha Mack 'cause I can be just like her. She doesn't take crap from people, and she speaks her mind regardless of the situation."
Of course, this isn't always a positive approach to life, and Kayann lets us know that.
"Just like Tasha put her foot in her mouth a number of times, I've also gotten into trouble more times than I'd like to count," she said.
"But I don't really care. That's just me, and if you don't like it, then that's your business. Haters, keep hating!"
If it wasn't for Toni ...
She's the girl we loved to hate, and she's the character whom Ashley, a Negril resident, can relate to most.
As she puts it, "I can definitely see myself as Toni from Girlfriends, although I'm not (that) self-centred. She has some amount of 'spite' in her, coupled with intelligence, and that's the right combo.
"Only her real friends understand her and know the real her - that she's fun and also caring and has got your back no matter what - just like me."
Joker, Joker ...
And from the 'nice dragon, lady', we move to the Joker. Craig, from Kingston, isn't borderline psychotic, but he does have an appreciation for Batman's nemesis.
According to Craig, "The Joker just has a sick sense of humour. The whole idea of not being a planner and just doing things simply because it causes chaos is strangely appealing to me. After all, chaos is fun."
