The winding, dusty and bumpy roadway leading to the Dover racetrack in St Ann will buzz with activity tomorrow as hundreds of die-hard motorsport fans are expected for the Emancipation Day race meet.

For the last 20 years, the Dover race circuit has been the scene of some breathtaking motor racing battles and, based on tomorrow's 15 race-card line-up, it will be no different.

While the competitors are gearing up for the qualifying session this morning, the first race is scheduled to get under way at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow.

"The races will be exciting and I am expecting some very close finishes," said Hilary Jardine, president of the Jamaica Race Drivers Club.

According to the president, the usual rivalry between Doug Gore and David Summerbell should provide additional entertainment.

In the meantime, both Peter 'Bull' Thompson and Marck Carey have sorted themselves out but the man they will have to watch is Peter Rae due to his exceptional performance at the last race meet.

"He is leading on 26 points in the Two-Wheel Drive Class of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC)," said Jardine.

Ready

"Though Chris Campbell will be absent, I am looking forward to a fantastic event. The Evo V is ready and will be driven by Matthew Gore, while the Evo X went to the dyno and came back. We will now be fitting a brand new suspension and after that we ready," Doug Gore told Automotives on Friday.

Summerbell, who was planning on installing a new suspension for the second-leg of the CMRC in Barbados, will have an opportunity to test it.

"We will be testing this new suspension, hoping the car will be a little bit faster," said Summerbell.

The MP One Class should be filled with non-stop action. Kyle Gregg, who appears to be in superb form, will clash again with Brian Foster, Gary Barrett and Peter Jaggan. The trio will also renew their rivalry in the IP 33 Class.

"I know the battlefield will be crowdy, but I just want to tell my rivals, howdy. I am coming all out," boosted Teddy Burton, who will be competing in the MP 2 Class.

He is likely to be challenged by Alan Chen, Peter Jaggan and Dean Shaw.

With the absence of Stefan Chin, Adrian Blake and Dennis Chin-Quee are expected to dominate the motorcycle contest. Their biggest threat could be the improving Gregg 'Tallman' Cross.
