Sidelined West Indies 'A' leg-spinner Gavin Wallace and medium pacer Wayne Morgan showed that they could step up to the plate and deliver when they combined to hand their club St Catherine Saints an eight-wicket win over St Mary in their first- round Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Limited Overs Knockout clash at Eden Park last weekend.

The duo, who ended with 4-14 and 3-46, respectively, stepped up in the absence of four of their team's main players, captain Tamar Lambert, batsman Danza Hyatt, spinner Odean Brown, and all-rounder André Russell, who were all in Trinidad and Tobago on national duty in the first-ever Caribbean Twenty20 tournament.

Losing the toss and being asked to take first strike, St Mary were bundled out for 140, with Anthony Myers and Domain Wilson scoring 24 each.

St Catherine, in their reply, then raced to their target of 143-2, with opener Damion Bryce scoring an unbeaten 62, and former national youth standout Shacoya Thomas getting 33 not out.

Elsewhere, Rikel Walters, 67, and Kadian McKenzie, 45, piloted Hanover to a 125-run win over Trelawny at Elgin Town.

Ewan Andrews, 5-30, and Adrian Thompson, 3-14, were also in outstanding form for Westmoreland Wizards, who scored a surprise six wickets away win over St Elizabeth Warriors at ALPART.

At Jarrett Park, St Ann Cutters, without Xavier Marshall, were also in good form, as they defeated St James by five wickets. St Ann then scored 102-5, with Gregory Smith getting 32 not out.

In the Kensington versus Clarendon clash at Jamaica Broilers, the latter won by four wickets courtesy of Marcell Parchment, 3-5, and Ricardo Williams, 2-17.

It was also easy pickings for Kingston Tigers against Kingston and St Andrew CA at Maxfield Park.

The day's other game between Police and Portland at Elletson Road saw the men from the east winning by 44 runs.
