Rojah

Did you know ... that from as early as high school, Rojah has been designing his own dress and casual shirts with the help of his mom, who is a seamstress?

  • What season best suits your style (and why)?

Winter. I know we really don't have a change of climate but, in the Christmas season, or during that time of year, people can dare to be bold with their look and literally get away with anything!

  • What was the best fashion trend (clothing, shoes, etc.) of the '90s?

I loved the '90s cross colours, pumps for the ladies, Timberlands for the males.

  • What is the best-recycled trend to hit summer 2010?

Pumps for the ladies.

  • Tell us something about your brand that stands out against other designers.

My brand is extremely cost effective, size friendly and just simply exquisite!

  • If you were set up on a blind date, what is the one garment (pants, shoes, belt, hat, etc.) your date would have to be on point with?

Perhaps the colours would have to be on point, rather than the garment. As a designer, I am open and very interested in individual sense of style, so I would focus on the scheme of colours my date played around with to make up her outfit, among other details, rather than just a specific piece of garment. I would take it all in.

  • When is a woman at her sexiest?

There are so many levels of sexy, but a woman in red pumps, work attire or a simple white tee, with no make-up on, in a ponytail, is sexiest to me.

  • Name five things that make you complete.

My mother, my God, my girlfriend, my Kenneth Cole watch, and my extended family and friends.

  • Name a summer fashion do and don't.

For men, try getting yourself a pair of cargo shorts. The time is too hot. Don't wear an XL T-shirt if that is not your size.

  • What style advice would you give to a guy meeting his girlfriend's parents for the first time for dinner?

Keep it classy, yet casual. Ensure to wear subtle colours - brown, cream, black or navy blue. Lie low on the T-shirt wearing. Try a button-down shirt instead. And visit the barber!

  1. What are you mostcomfortable in?

I love a nice fitted jeans and a button-down.

  • Name the local brand you admire most.

Carlton Brown.

  • Many individuals are of the belief that Jamaica is the fashion trendsetter of the Indies, do you agree?

Jamaicans are extremely bold individuals. However, I do not think we are the trendsetters of the Indies, but one of the main trendsetters of the Indies. This is because, in my opinion, we are not very accepting of uniqueness.

But do not get me wrong, Jamaicans set the trend wherever we go, it's just that when it comes to being able to experiment with unique fashion trends, we tend to be a bit sceptical.

  • How has dancehall influenced fashion trends in your opinion?

Dancehall, in my opinion, is the epitome of Jamaican fashion and sense of style - from the colours, to the matching of jewellery pieces, to the hairstyles and footwear.

The music speaks a lot to and about the latest fashion trends or just the latest trend in general, from Kartel's Straight Jeans and Fitted, to Clarks, to Beenie Man's Mattie, the lyrics and the rhythm of the music have moved, shaped and inspired how we dress.
