 August 17 - A suicide bomber blows himself up among hundreds of army recruits near a military headquarters in central Baghdad, killing 60 people and wounding 125.

July 18 - A suicide bomber strikes anti-al-Qaida Sunni fighters waiting for paycheques, killing 45 in Radwaniya, southwest of Baghdad.

May 10 - A series of blasts and shootings across Iraq kill 119 in Iraq's deadliest day so far this year.

April 23 - A series of blasts mainly targeting Shiite worshippers kill 72 in Baghdad and Ramadi, west of the capital.
