Barbican pip Mona in feature clash

Reigning champions Barbican recorded a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Real Mona in the fourth round 'Game of the Day' KSAMLA/JNBS Masters League at Duhaney Park last Sunday.

Andrew Chisholm gave Mona a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute, but Barbican responded with two quick goals in the 11th and 13th minutes by Denton Shedden and Roan Martin, respectively, to take a 2-1 half-time advantage.

Chisholm scored his second of the game in the 43rd minute to pull Real Mona level at 2-2, but veteran striker Wayne Whonder sealed the 3-2 win for the league champions with a game-winning goal in the 55th minute.

In the second game of the venue's double-header, hosts Park Rovers came from a goal down at the half to register a 2-1 win over Shortwood.

Roan Rousseau scored twice at the Mona Bowl to give zone A leaders Pelicans a narrow 2-1 win over a determined MV Exodus.

In the Mona Bowl opener, Constant Spring took a clear lead in zone B after they shut out Lion Kings 2-0 on goals by Gary Hylton in the ninth minute and Lincoln Taffe in 20th. Spring are now perfect with four wins from four games.

At Vauxhall Oval, Harbour View and Kingston Commissioners played to a well-contested 1-1 draw. After a goalless first half, midfielder Neil Stewart score from close range to give the 'Stars of the East' a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute.

However, Commissioners' Brad Bernard capitalised on a defensive lapse in the 53rd minute to level the score 1-1.

In the Vauxhall Oval feature game, Christian Ambassadors came from behind twice to snatch a deserving 2-2 draw from a determined and well-organised Brown's Town team.

Steady progress

Nautica continued their steady progress in zone A when they edged Kush 1-0 at Bell Chung Oval. Dave Williams scored for the winners in the 16th minute for his fifth goal of the season.

Santos rebounded from their third-round loss to blank Telecom Strikers 2-0 in the Bell Chung Oval opener. Dennis Ellis, in the second minute, and Victor Samuels, in the 47th, were the goalscorers for Santos.

Portmore Masters and Maxfield played to a 0-0 draw at Naggo Head Oval and at the same venue, Packers and Boys' Town drew 2-2.

At Breezy Castle, Eastern held Thunderbolts to to a 0-0 draw and in the venue's feature game, Washington Strikers fought back to tie hosts Rae Town 1-1.
