Apart from providing entertainment, these love triangles, and sometimes rectangles, oftentimes leave the television screen and find their way in our lives. They say truth is stranger than fiction, and the following accounts of real-life love triangles could give screenwriters a run for their money.
Justice for all
Leroya from Portmore has never personally been involved in a love triangle but she was only too happy to share her friend's story.
"My friend is in the middle of one right now!" she told SL.
According to Leroya, her friend, whom we shall call Gayle, is involved in a relationship with a soldier but she has a policeman on the side.
"But that's not all! The policeman has his own woman!"
Yes, at this stage we see the triangle becoming a rectangle. Leroya continued: "One day Gayle went on Facebook and in her news feed were pictures of the wedding that the policeman was tagged in. And guess who the groom was!
She added the wife on Facebook and sent her a message. The wife replied that she knows he has other women and that's why she tagged him in the pictures."
By this time Leroya was shaking her head in disbelief as she recalled the incidents. The saga continues for Gayle, but now, the policeman won't leave her alone.
Leroya said that one night the soldier was at her house, and when she came out she saw the policeman parking behind him! She managed to get out of that situation but as Leroya stated seriously, "All I can say is that she's living dangerously." That's all we can say too!
Secret lovers
For media personality O'Neil, his love triangle was with a woman he met in Negril last summer - she was chaperoning her nieces.
As he put it, "I was 27 and she was 35, but she didn't look a day over 25. Her nieces recognised me from TV and we got to talking. It turned out that she was married but it was just a case of only her material needs being fulfilled.
"The night before we were to head back to town, we ended up having sex and she was appalled, saying she couldn't believe she just cheated on her husband, and with somebody she just met no less."
Regardless of the guilt, they exchanged numbers and kept the link going after that weekend.
O'Neil said further: "I did things that her husband didn't - listened to her problems, was a friend to her ... and, of course, the sex was outstanding."
While not getting into details, he noted that it was intense but he started feeling bad because this woman was married. In his own words, O'Neil said, "I respect marriage - I might stray as a boyfriend, but not as a husband.
The marriage eventually fell apart because of cheating by both the wife and hubby.
On and off ... and on again
Dayna from Kingston has a different take. As it goes, she was in a relationship for a while and then they broke up. No attempt was made at reconciliation but, according to her, they broke up after he got involved with a "raggedy-looking" girl.
"Don't judge me! I wasn't really the 'matey' though - I mean I had him first. And our relationship continued for, like months, until he finally decided to leave her," she told SL.
As it turns out, Dayna and the guy broke up again some months later.
"Everybody has a vice or vices ... . Mine are ex-boyfriends," she said, sighing.
