WESTERN BUREAU:
Attorney-at-law Aloun Assamba labelled Dr Diana Davis-Smith a woman of fortitude and stick-to-itivenes, while another lawyer, Donna Scott Mottley, described her as tenacious.
The banker, known in the financial circles as no-nonsense, is charting a path into the island's educational system and is armed and ready to deliver on her promise to bring excellence to ordinary Jamaicans.
"Excellence is attainable, dedication to task, perseverance and a belief in a power that is greater than man," said Davis-Smith.
Close friends and family comprised the intimate group that celebrated with the Northern Caribbean University graduate last Sunday at Studio 38 on Trafalgar Road in New Kingston.
Davis-Smith, who is married to Lovel Smith, a construction contractor, collected her latest achievement, the Doctor of Philosophy in Education.
Her confidante and lifelong friend, attorney Nicole Scott-Bonnick, in celebrating her pal's accomplishment said, "Diana is the most important person in my life, a wonderful, special human being, who is a loyal friend."
Davis-Smith's best friend Guadia Aquart organised the event, which received great support from the 'Rum Tree Calabash' crew Dollis Campbell, Millicent Lynch and Nurma James.
