OECS education ministers meet to discuss new strategies
British Virgin Islands (CMC):
Education Ministers from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) met on Tuesday to discuss a new and harmonized Common Entrance Examination for six graders in the sub region. An OECS Secretariat statement said that if the new examination is approved during the September 14-17 meeting, it will reflect a transition from the traditional qualification system for promoting primary school students to secondary schools in each OECS country. Head of the OECS Education Reform Unit, Marcellus Albertin said the OECS Secretariat and the Barbados-based Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) were looking at developing the new assessment mechanism at that level, and the education ministers will discuss the matter at their meeting.
