Agent demands that Coventry 'sign King now'
COVENTRY CITY, England (CMC):
The agent for disgraced Reggae Boy, Marlon King, has urged Coventry City to swiftly close the deal for the player and says if this is not done, he will be forced to take up offers from other Championship clubs.
"All the negotiating has been done and terms agreed, so I don't know what the hold up is," Tony Finnigan said.
"But I am not going to sit around and wait because I have got a job to do, and there are enough clubs in the Championship who want to have a go this year and who will take Marlon, who is fit and ready to play."
The 30-year-old King recently served nine months of an 18-month sentence for sexual assault, following an incident in a Soho nightclub in December of 2008.
Since his release in July, King has been on a campaign to clear his name and also resuscitate a shattered career. Premiership club Wigan terminated his contract when he was convicted.
Finnigan said King had done enough at Coventry City since training with the club and management there needed to make a decision on the player.
"He has been training at Coventry for a month now. He has played in two friendlies, against Birmingham and MK Dons, and scored in both," said Finnigan.
"I don't know what to say. It is very simple. They either want to sign him or they don't and if they don't, they need to come out and say that.
"I spoke to (manager) Aidy Boothroyd on Thursday and he said that everything was going to happen and that he wanted him involved against Leicester (last Saturday), so I don't know what's happening."
