Arnett Gardens on Sunday again profited from experience as another of their veterans, Cornel Chin-Sue, powered them to another win, their second in the Digicel Premier League.

Midfielder Chin-Sue, who threatened in his team's previous game against Harbour View without finding the back of the net, was rewarded for his persistence when he slotted home in the 38th minute to give his team a 1-0 win over the previously unbeaten Boys' Town.

The win gave them three additional points and kept them on the upward bounce following their midweek win over Harbour View. Prior to those games they had just one point from two games and looked as if their season would have been marked by a struggle.

"We knew what we had to do. We needed the points and I think we did ourselves justice today," said a pleased Wayne Fairclough at the end of the game at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

introspection, motivation, support

"This victory was largely due to introspection, motivation and the support of the spectators ... we all needed it. It was a combined effort," he added.

Boys' Town's coach, Andrew Price, was of the view that his team was let down by their finishing.

"We did not play a particularly bad game today, but I don't think we deserved to lose. We had the territorial advantage. We just did not get the ball in the back of the net, and if you fail to score you will not win games," he reasoned.

"We just were not as aggressive as we were in the first three games, and that cost us," he continued.

In a tough, physical game of good quality, Boys' Town managed to pin the home team in the half for most of the game but were unable to make that dominance count.

The twin towers of Rohan Reid and Newton Sterling snuffed out everything that Boys' Town threw at them, especially in the air.

Arnett Gardens looked lively mainly through Ricardo Stern, Rasheede Clarke, Kevin Wilson and the steady Chin-Sue.

No surprise

When Arnett Gardens took the lead, there was no surprise that Stern, called 'Mandela'' by the vociferous home supporters, was involved. The short and slightly built player danced his way around Asrick Samuels and crossed what looked like a harmless ball. Goalkeeper Kirk Porter stepped forward to collect it, but defender Anthowe Dawkins shouldered the ball and allowed Chin-Sue to capitalise on his blunder and poke home as Porter was caught out.

Boys' Town could have hit back four minutes later but the vertically-challenged Dean Thompson did not cope very well with Sterling and Reid in the centre of the Arnett defence and could not capitalise on the effort.

Arnett Gardens could have extended their lead in the 55th minute when Sterling found himself free in the opposite box, but with the game's best opportunity at his left foot, he got excited and blasted wide of the gaping goal.

Boys' Town's Renae Lloyd was ejected late in the game by the sharp Valdin Ledgister for a second bookable offence.
