The race for supremacy in Zone A of the 2010 ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup rural area senior schoolboy football competition continues to be an interesting affair as St James, Cornwall College and Muschett High, the prime contenders for the two inter-zone places, all registered good wins in yesterday's round of matches.

At Jarrett Park, St James High, playing without top players Allan Ottey and Ricardo Morris, scored a big 4-1 win over William Knibb to move to 13 and maintain their one-point lead over second-place Cornwall College.

Cornwall, in the meantime, clipped Spot Valley 1-0 courtesy of an Alex Smith strike, in their game at Barrett Town, to move to 12 points.

St James High team, which led 2-0 at half-time, scored through Jason Malcolm (two goals) Robert Anglin and Randy Myrie. William Knibb got their consolation goal from Jordon Thorpe.

"It was not our best performance but in the end it is the result that matters most and we won the game," said Pastor Hugh Solomon, coach of St James High. "Getting four goals a game speaks well for our strikers."

In the other Zone A game, third-place Muschett High clipped Green Pond 1-0 courtesy of a Ramando Brown strike. By virtue of their win, the Delroy Dellisser-coached Muschett moved to 11 points.
