A strange name, but completely recognisable ideas are expected in Wickie Wackie, Bull Bay this weekend.

The fusion of cultural vibes, international acts and positive conscious performers is not new. What it is called is.

On Saturday, Iration Ites, (The Itesperience) is being staged by The Uprising Roots Band.

Along with Darren Hamilton, owner of Wickie Wackie, the group has invited bands expected to bring a 'big festival feel to an intimate setting'. The festival's acts will include the likes of Winston McAnuff, Earl 'Chinna' Smith & Inna De Yard, Fred Locks, Prophecy, Vania, Earth Warrior, Field Marshal, Lee Tafari, The Uprising Roots Band, From The Deep, Unity Band and Lees Unlimited (est 1968).

The show will take place at Lot 14 Wickie Wackie Drive in Bull Bay, St Andrew on Saturday according to Hamilton, "it promises to be a night of thrilling, drum-beating, energetic, reggae vibrations".

Earlier this year, Hamilton had lamented at the small amount of live music shows and noted how integral a role these play in developing and exposing not just artistes, but the country to talent.

Purest form

"It is very important that musicians and performers have a space to exercise their craft, and where music lovers can get a chance to see music in its truest and purest form. It's absolutely fantastic that there are already people and places where this platform for our local music to shine and grow is provided, but live music needs more and the people want more," he had said.

Artistes have been encouraged to set up display areas at the event to promote themselves and their individual brands.

Admission to the event is $500 and the show is set to begin at 7 p.m.
