Squeeze goes back to the turntables

DJ Squeeze, long considered a master of old-school jams, will hit the turntables tonight at Studio 38 for the first in a new series '98-38', which will now take place every Wednesday at Studio 38. The DJ's return from a long hiatus is widely anticipated by his fans, who have waited for years to celebrate this occasion.

'98-38' is a joint promotion, hosted by Squeeze of Megajamz 98 and Kingsley Cooper of Studio 38. The Dj will leverage his extensive experience and reputation as he moves to create the latest edition of the cult of old-school faithful, while adding a cadre of new fans, among the young and mature alike.

Over the years, his exploits have spanned Mellow Canary, Peacemaker and Skyy discos with stints in Jamaica, the United States, the Caribbean and a number of other countries. One of his more famous gigs was 'Wednesdays' at Asylum, which continued the old-school Wednesday night tradition started by the Rock and Epiphany, and which will now continue at Studio 38.

Studio 38, located at the Pulse Centre on Trafalgar Road, will celebrate its first anniversary. It has spawned several projects including the Live At Studio 38 music series, Fridays - the weekend opening party night and more recent additions, The Pulse Fashion Fix and Sunday's Kingston Rocks.

Live concerts

Studio 38's first anniversary celebration will span the November/ December holiday period, extending into early January. A number of major live concerts and other events will mark the occasion.

That list includes Beres Hammond, Donovan Bailey, Johnny Gill, Shontelle, Yendi Phillipps, Marco Mazzhocchi Alemanni, John Holt, Luciano, Third World, Carla Campbell, George Nooks, Gramps Morgan, Carlos Max Brown, Ken Booth, Jaunel McKenzie, Gregory Isaacs, Michael Holding, Admiral Bailey, Kimanee Wilson, Bob Andy, Nambo Robinson, Una Morgan, Oraine Barrett, A.J.
